College Township Council recently took action to proclaim February as Black History Month. Joining Council for the Proclamation and speaking to the importance and purpose of recognizing Black History Month were College Township residents Tracey Mariner and Gary Abdullah, Elder Unity Church of Jesus Christ and founding member of the MLK Plaza Committee, and Carmin Wong, Bunton-Waller Graduate Fellow, Ph.D Candidate in English & African American and Diaspora Studies.
College Township joins with Centre County government, the Borough of State College, Ferguson Township and Patton Township in recognizing the accomplishments, hardships, achievements, and struggles of Black Americans, and celebrating the immeasurable contributions of the descendants of enslaved peoples in our neighborhoods, our township, our country, and our society.
