Construction on the long-awaited Pike Street Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Access Improvement Project began the week of September 20, 2021. Work in 2021, included waterline and gas line relocations. This work was completed in October 2021. Construction of the remainder of the work, which includes curb, ADA accessible curb ramps, stormwater, sidewalk, on-street parallel parking, and street tree improvements will begin in April of 2022 and will run for 5 months.
Work completed to date includes the construction of improvements to Granite Lane. The Granite Lane improvements were needed to eliminate the partial blockage of Pike Street that occurs when a local business received deliveries from large delivery trucks. The Pike Street Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Access Improvement Project is funded in part by a $1.15 million dollar Multi-Modal Transportation Fund Grant awarded to College Township by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
