Job Description: Principal Planner
College Township seeks a professional, experienced planner to serve as Principal Planner, a key position in a growing, changing township. The Principal Planner is responsible for reviewing and processing a variety of development applications including site plan and subdivisions, conducts research and manages professional and technical studies. Additionally, the position is responsible for the review and modification of land development, zoning and general Township ordinances.
Critical projects are now underway that require the skills of a seasoned professional planner to see them through to successful completion. These include management of outside consultants involved in an existing commercial and industrial zoning analysis and future zoning code modifications, as well as ongoing work related to a Township-wide sidewalk master plan project. Future work will involve review and modification of the Township’s affordable housing regulations and intermittent rental (i.e., Airbnb) regulations, just to name a few.
While the position reports to the Township Engineer, the Principal Planner will be responsible for directing and supervising Zoning Department personnel.
Minimum qualifications for the position require a Bachelor’s degree in planning or closely related field; supplemented by five or more years’ experience in planning/managerial capacity. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) designation within two years of employment and must possess, or be eligible to obtain, a PA driver’s license within six months.
Preferably, Candidates will possess a Master’s degree in planning or closely related field supplemented by eight years of combined planning/managerial experience and AICP designation.
College Township offers a competitive salary – the salary range is $73,000 to $95,000 – excellent benefits and a collegial work environment.

2019 SEASONAL LABORER
College Township is accepting applications for a Seasonal Laborer position in its Public Works Department. The primary job duties include a variety of lawn and grounds maintenance work at the Township’s office building, Public Works facility, post office, and parks and include mowing grass, weeding, and trimming shrubbery. Position requires manual labor, such as shoveling, raking, lifting, and operating power hand tools, as well as operating lawn mowers, including tractors.
This is a part-time, hourly position. The work week for this position is dependent on weather and is not a guaranteed 40-hour week. Seasonal work begins in May and ends in October.
Minimum of one year of experience in lawn and grounds maintenance or related area is preferred. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and pass physical examination and background check. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with good driving record.
Starting pay is $11.50 to $12.50 per hour DOE.
