Other Information (Overview, Responsibilities, etc.)
The Parks and Recreation Committee provides advice to Council regarding the maintenance and development of parkland owned by the municipality. Committee members annually update a five-year plan for development and improvement of existing parks. The objective is to provide recreational opportunities and park settings for residents and the public throughout the year.
Not only does the Parks and Recreation Committee keep a watchful eye over College Township's parks, but committee members are also involved in reviewing parkland and open space being provided in plans for new developments and making recommendations to the Township Planning Commission. They are also involved in the planning of Township bike paths and in making recommendations to Council on the Township's Official Map, which identifies potential for future parkland and open space.
